EUROMEC convenes online: addressing the challenges faced by minority ethnic EU Citizens in the UK

The European minority ethnic citizens (EUROMEC) Monitoring Network, dedicated to supporting minority ethnic EU citizens in the UK, held an online meeting on October 9 to discuss key challenges, particularly those related to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) and the Withdrawal Agreement.

Organised by the EU Delegation to the UK and the Black Europeans Association, the meeting brought together over 40 civil society and advocacy stakeholders to address the unique issues these communities face.

Key topics included the importance of reliable data collection to understand systemic challenges better and ensure effective advocacy. The EUROMEC network fosters safe spaces for open dialogue and draws on best practices from EU human rights frameworks, aiming to promote equal access to rights and protections.

Ambassador Pedro Serrano highlighted EUROMEC’s role in advancing diversity and inclusion, underscoring the EU’s commitment to supporting minority ethnic citizens in the UK.
