For the last Live Session of 2025, we took a moment to look back at the year and the key developments we saw for EU citizens and their families in the UK.
The session included points such as: .
- Automatic grants of settled status since January 2025
- Change in the pre-settled status residence rules since July 2025
- The use of travel data in pre-settled to settled status applications
- Continued late EUSS applications
- Other non-EUSS immigration policy announcements like changes to settlement rules
In addition to rounding up the past year, we also looked ahead to what important events and changes are dues to take place in 2026. This section of the session gave an overview of points Eu citizens, and their families may need to be aware off if they are planning applications, travel or coming up to an extension of their pre-settled status:
- Expanded automation process
- Removal of pre-settled status for excessive absences
- Enforcement of ETA from 25 February
These Information sessions are hosted every month on Facebook and will continue in 2026. They cover a relevant topic about EU citizens in the UK and the EU settlement scheme. The sessions are delivered by an immigration lawyer allowing viewers to share any questions directly with an immigration lawyer.
