During our monthly Live information session for EU citizens, we covered the Home Office announcement that from 9 April, pre-settled status can be removed from those who have been absent from the UK for long periods.
Many pre-settled status holders will have heard of this news and may be interested to know if it will impact them. As a part of the announcement, it was made clear that the Home Office will consider curtailing or cancelling the pre-settled status of those who may have broken their residence conditions before acquiring settled status. To make this process as clear as possible, the topic was covered during our live session.
In the session an immigration lawyer explained:
- What being absent from the UK for too long mean and which pre-settled status holders will be targeted
- How the Home Office will notify you that they are considering removing your status
- What information and evidence you should provide if you want to retain your pre-settled status
- If you can challenge the decision to remove your pre-settled status
In addition, participants asked live questions about the EU settlement scheme.
Information sessions are hosted monthly on Facebook. They cover relevant topics about EU citizens in the UK and the EU settlement scheme.
